People want relationships, not transactions. ~via Raquel Navarro

Raquel made my day, no YEAR, with this post. Means so much knowing my words and content had such an impact.

AI can accelerate output, but RETURN ON RELATIONSHIP is what creates alignment, trust, and culture.

RETURN ON RELATIONSHIP adds more to ROI than meets the eye. -Ted

One of the biggest things that shaped my philosophy around marketing happened years ago after hearing Ted Rubin speak at a conference in Miami.

His concept of “Return on Relationship” stayed with me long after the event ended.

Long before “community” and “relationship marketing” became buzzwords, Ted was talking about something simple but incredibly important:

People want relationships, not transactions.

That idea has influenced the way I’ve approached marketing ever since.

Because the brands that people stay loyal to rarely win because of a single campaign, ad, or conversion funnel.

They win because they create:
• trust
• consistency
• connection
• visibility
• ongoing value over time

And now, with the proliferation of AI, we have the opportunity to build relationships at a scale that was never previously possible — creating more personalized, continuous, and adaptive experiences between interactions.

That’s why I’ve become increasingly convinced that the future of marketing isn’t just about acquiring attention.

It’s about maintaining relationships.
